Erik ten Hag adds South American defender to Manchester United shortlist

Incoming Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has begun planning for the 2022 summer transfer window, according to reports.
Ten Hag will take over from Ralf Rangnick at the close of the 2021/22 season and is facing a huge rebuilding job.
The German recently suggested United need six to 10 new players and, whilst that number of players arriving in one window is unrealistic, it is obvious the Red Devils need to improve in a number of areas.
One such area is at centre-back where Harry Maguire has seriously struggled for form, Raphael Varane has become somewhat injury-prone, and Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly are not exactly the best back-up options.
And now, as per journalist Ekrem Konur, Ten Hag has added Ajax and Argentine stopper Lisandro Martinez to his transfer shortlist:

Who is Lisandro Martinez?
The Argentine is currently playing under ten Hag at Ajax where he has both showcased his technical prowess with the ball and ability in the tackle – skills required by most modern defenders.
Martinez is also left-footed, meaning ten Hag would be able to partner the South American with one of right-footed pair Varane or Maguire.
And, of course, as he is already playing under ten Hag, Martinez should, in theory, not take long to adapt to United’s system under the Dutchman.
