European giants chase Nigeria U20 star Sani Suleiman ahead of January transfer

By Dayo Awoniyi
Nigerian midfield prodigy Sani Suleiman is attracting growing interest from top European clubs, with Paris Saint-Germain, Ajax, and Brentford reportedly among the front-runners for his signature ahead of the January transfer window.
The 19-year-old, currently plying his trade at Slovakian side AS Trenčín, has impressed with a string of standout performances at both club and international level. Suleiman’s technical ability and maturity in midfield first drew global attention during the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile, where he emerged as one of Nigeria’s brightest prospects.
More recently, his displays at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina—despite Nigeria’s exit in the round of 16—have further elevated his profile, with scouts from several top-tier clubs monitoring his progress closely.
Since joining AS Trenčín from Nigerian club Akwa United last year, Suleiman has continued his rapid rise.
This season, he has already registered two goals and an assist in just five league appearances, further reinforcing his status as one of the most exciting young midfielders in Europe.
In addition to PSG, Brentford, and Ajax, other clubs reportedly tracking his development include Tottenham Hotspur, Bayer Leverkusen, Rangers, and Royal Antwerp. Several Major League Soccer franchises are also believed to be keeping tabs on the player.
Sources close to Suleiman have indicated that while AS Trenčín retain the option to extend his current deal by two years, a January move is increasingly likely.
“He’s had a great tournament, so the interest from other clubs is normal,” a source told SportsBoom.com.
“Talks are ongoing, but his next destination hasn’t been decided yet—anything is possible.”
With Europe’s elite preparing to make their move, Suleiman appears poised for a major step in his career—one that could take him from Slovakia to one of football’s grandest stages.
