By Saheed Afolabi
Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) referees committee, Faith Irabor has urged officials to be top of their game when called upon to officiate matches.
Irabor issued the stern warning to referees before the start of the NNL new season. She commended the officials for maintaining their dignity in the profession as she inspires them not to degrade their standards.
The referee chief said any referee caught trying to bring the game to disrepute would be sanctioned accordingly.
“We are proud of these referees, and we do not expect anything less,” Irabor was quoted by NNL.
“They know the implications of poor performance.”
The NNL new season curtain opener will be played between Abakaliki FC against Madiba FC at the Pa-Ngele Oruta Township Stadium on Saturday, November 30.
The encounter will be officiated by Center Referee, Osas Alohan from Edo State, who will be assisted by Festus German (First Assistant) from Delta State, Favour Bogwu (Second Assistant) from Delta State and Sebastine Onwe (Fourth Official) from Ebonyi State.
