FC Robo Queens Crowned Champions of 2025 Queens Cup

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

FC Robo Queens have been crowned champions of the maiden NWFL Southwest Preseason Tournament, tagged the 2025 Queens Cup, following an impressive 2–0 victory over Remo Stars Ladies at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

The Lagos-based side, fondly called The Lagos Landladies, displayed resilience, tactical discipline, and attacking flair in a thrilling final that lived up to expectations.

Oluwakemi Adegbuyi opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a composed finish to give Robo Queens a deserved lead. Both teams continued to create chances in an end-to-end contest, with Remo Stars Ladies threatening on the counter but unable to find the breakthrough.

As the clock ticked down, Rafiu Tosin sealed the victory in the 87th minute, calmly slotting home from a swift counterattack to secure the title for Emmanuel Osahon’s side.

The triumph was particularly sweet for FC Robo Queens, who avenged their 2–1 loss to Remo Stars Ladies in the group stage. Beyond lifting the trophy, the Lagos giants also dominated the individual awards — with Yahaya Mariam finishing as top scorer with ten goals, while Tosin Rafiu was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player for her consistency and leadership.

The 2025 Queens Cup featured eight women’s clubs drawn from Lagos, Oyo, and Ogun States, serving as a key preseason test ahead of the new NWFL Premiership campaign.

Praised for its organisation and competitiveness, the tournament further underscored the growth and visibility of women’s football in Southwest Nigeria — with FC Robo Queens once again affirming their status as one of the league’s most consistent and formidable sides.
