Federation Cup Round of 64: Nasarawa United advance after Kebbi United win
By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Nasarawa United have qualified for the Round of 32 of the 2023 Federation Cup after a 2-0 victory over Kebbi United in the Round of 64 on Wednesday.
A goal each in each half from Victor Collins and Ayuba Francis were enough to hand the Solid Miners a win at the Bako Kontagora Memorial Stadium, Minna, Niger State.
The two-time beaten finalist of the Federation Cup will know its next opponent when the draw for the Round of 32 is made.
The team reached the final of the Federation in 2016 and 2021, losing both finals with the recent to Bayelsa United.
It will now shift focus on its next Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match with Shooting Stars FC of Ibadan on Saturday, April 29, 2023.
Elsewhere, Insurance Feeders thrashed Maikunkele FC 4-0 to also progress to the Round of 32.
Meanwhile, Mighty Jets of Jos walked over Niger Tornadoes Feeders in Kaduna.
Niger Tornadoes Feeders failed to show up in the Round of 64 encounter while a grace of adequate time was provided by the match officials which was exceeded and approved.
The Jos-based side will travel back to Jos for its Nigeria National League (NNL) Group A1 second-round match against Mailantarki FC on Saturday.
In a related development, two first-half goals from David Onovo and Ibrahim Yusuf were enough to hand Sunshine Stars a 2-0 win against Basira FC to advance to the Round of 32.
