Ferran Torres joins Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona on deal until 2031
Barcelona have announced the transfer of forward Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain, with the France-based club confirming that the Spain international has signed a contract running until 2031.
Torres will wear the number nine shirt at Paris Saint-Germain. Barcelona announced the agreement in a post on their official account on X, saying: “We have reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain regarding the transfer of Ferran Torres to the French club.”
Paris Saint-Germain also confirmed the move in a statement on their official website, outlining Torres’ journey from his early days in Spain to his arrival in the French capital.
“Ferran Torres was born in Foios, Spain, on 29 February 2000, and began discovering football at an early age through futsal,” said the club.
He joined Valencia’s academy at the age of seven and progressed through every stage of the club’s development system. Paris Saint-Germain noted that Torres became the first player born in the 21st century to appear in La Liga when he played against Eibar on 16 December 2017.
Torres spent three seasons playing at the highest level for Valencia between 2017 and 2020 and also made his first appearances in the UEFA Champions League. In 97 matches for the club, he established several age-related records.
At 19 years and 324 days, he became the youngest player in Valencia’s history to make 50 La Liga appearances. He was also the first player born in the 21st century to score for a Spanish club in the UEFA Champions League.
Torres won his first senior honour in 2019, when Valencia lifted the Copa del Rey.
His performances earned him a move to Manchester City in 2020. Under manager Pep Guardiola, Torres scored his first goal for the club in the EFL Cup against Burnley, just six days after making his Premier League debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
In 2021, he was part of the Manchester City team that reached the UEFA Champions League final. During the same year, he won the Premier League and EFL Cup with the club.
Torres began the 2021-22 season with Manchester City before moving to Barcelona during the January transfer window. He made 43 appearances for the English club, scoring 16 goals and providing four assists.
At Barcelona, Torres became an important part of the Catalan club’s attacking line-up. He played 207 matches for Barcelona and scored 65 goals.
Among those goals was his strike in the 2025 Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid. That goal gave Barcelona the opportunity to take the match into extra time, as the club went on to win the trophy.
During his time with Barcelona, Torres added three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups to his collection of honours.
His move to Paris Saint-Germain represents the latest stage of a career that has already included senior football in Spain and England, domestic trophies with Valencia, Manchester City and Barcelona, and experience in the UEFA Champions League.
