By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Bankole Olowookere, the head coach of the Nigeria U-17 national team, has announced a 26-player squad for their upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers against Burkina Faso.

The squad comprises 18 players from the top-flight Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership teams, with all 25 invited players based in the country.

The selection includes four goalkeepers, seven defenders, seven midfielders, and seven attackers.

The Flamingos recently dominated their second-round qualifiers, defeating Central African Republic 12-0 on aggregate.

Their next challenge is a two-legged clash with Burkina Faso, scheduled for May 11 and 18 respectively.

The aggregate winner will advance to face either Senegal or Liberia in the fourth round, with the ultimate aim of qualifying for the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
