FIFA World Cup: Julius Aghahowa faults Ghana’s approach in defeat to Uruguay
 By Wale Mustapha
Ex Nigeria striker, Julius Aghahowa has criticized the approach of Ghana in their disappointing 2-0 defeat to Uruguay at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The Ghanaians went into their last group game against Uruguay needing a victory to secure their place in the knockout stages and the game set up brilliantly for the West Africans but they fell short of ideas moments after captain Andrew Ayew missed a 21st minute penalty.
Meanwhile, Uruguay would soon scored two quick goals to dampen the hopes of the Ghanaians and the former Super Eagles man said Ghana’s mentality was below standard and culminated to that embarrassing defeat.
“Ghana got it wrong from the start, there was no spirit of urgency in their play, the fire started in second half when they were already down 2-0,” Aghahowa told media.
“If they had started that way from the first half things might have looked differently, they were punished, they fought for it but it wasn’t enough to win or even secure a draw.”
