Watford consolidated their place in the Championship top six with a 0-2 victory over bottom-of-the-table Huddersfield Town, extending the Hornets’ impressive run of form to just one defeat in their last eight league matches.
As the game progressed, the visitors gradually gained a foothold in the match and came close to taking the lead when Ismaila Sarr saw a long-range effort palmed around the post by Lee Nicholls.
Watford emerged after the restart desperate to build on their momentum and found the opener in the 54th minute when Fisayo Dele-Bashiru slipped in Joäo Pedro, who rifled a clinical finish beyond Nicholls.
Any hope of a late comeback for the hosts were extinguished with five minutes remaining, as Hornets doubled their lead through Joäo Pedro, who brilliantly headed home from a Ken Sema corner.
The result sees Watford temporarily rise to third, while Huddersfield remains six points adrift of safety.
