“Football can be cruel”- Dogo laments Nasarawa United’s unexpected loss to Elkanemi Warriors

By Wale Mustapha

Coach Kabir Dogo of Nasarawa United expressed his disappointment after his side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Elkanemi Warriors on Saturday.

The Solid Miners failed to secure any points in their Matchday 23 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash in Maiduguri, despite dominating much of the match.

Nasarawa United controlled the game for large periods and created several opportunities, but a lapse in concentration led to a solitary goal that handed the victory to the Borno Army.

A dejected Dogo reflected on the performance, saying, “We are gutted to lose against El-Kanemi Warriors, but we can’t fault our effort. I’m incredibly proud of the team’s display. We dominated the game, created numerous chances, and deserved more. This is not a game we should have lost.”

Looking ahead, the former Kwara United manager remained optimistic, stressing that Nasarawa United would build on the positives from the match as they prepare for their next league fixture against Ikorodu City.

“Sometimes, football can be cruel, but we will take the positives, regroup, analyze our performance, and come back stronger in our next game against Ikorodu City at our home ground,” Dogo added.

Despite the defeat, Nasarawa United remain in the relegation zone
