‘Football is not played on paper’ – Robo Queens’ Osahon untroubled by Bayelsa pedigree

After playing out a 1-1 draw with Delta Queens in Asaba on Wednesday, head coach of Robo Queens, Emmauel Orobosa Osahon is hopeful for another positive result against 2022 winners, Bayelsa Queens this week.

The two teams had similar fortunes in the league last week with Bayelsa Queens playing out a 1-1 draw with Rivers Angels in Yenegoa, the same scoreline FC Robo recorded in Asaba against Delta Queens.

Osahon asserted that the game will be decided on the field of play.

“When we get there, we know what to do. I am not the kind of coach that boasts ahead of games. Football is not played on paper but on the field,” Osahon told media.

“I am the happiest person in this country right now because everybody believes Delta is a slaughter ground. Unfortunately, we got a draw and give God the glory.”

The Petals goalkeeper, Anderline Mgbechi made multiple saves to deny the Lagos Landladies the equaliser and a win during the game but Chinaza Agoh’s first-half opener was eventually canceled by Folashade Ijamilusi late effort.

“It is normal for a goalkeeper to save balls from scoring but I have told them that persistent pressure will break the opponent down.” he continued. “I was beating my hand for them to get the goal. There is prize money for the goal. That’s how we operate now.”

Osahon made some changes in the second half which changed the tide of the game in his team’s favour as he expects the club to qualify for the Super Six at the end of the regular season.

“I changed the midfielders as they failed to improve and I noticed that they were not in the game. Immediately I changed them, and the game changed. The bottom line is that we will qualify for the Super Six.”
