Former U17WC winner Nduka Ugbade offers solution to Super Eagles midfield crisis

Former Nigeria international, Nduka Ugbade has called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to embrace the idea of investing in grassroots football.
He noted that the lack of options in the midfield of Nigeria should be a wake-up call for the administrators to have a change of approach.
Nigeria’s plight of getting a capable and creative midfielder has been a lingering issue for years after the retirement of Austin Jay Jay Okocha.
“We have to learn to control games and outcomes,” Ugbade told Brila FM.
“Nobody is going to war now with a banger, matchet, or pistol. You must go with nuclear weapons and no longer with tear gas.
“The game of football has gone scientific now. We need to pick these youths and show them that it is possible.
“Consecutively Nigeria must learn to play administratively.”
The lack of a creative midfielder has left the national teams relying on the wings to get goals.
Midfield remained the engine room of any football team and Nigeria needed to restrategise to get creative midfielders for the national teams.
