Gabriel Osho: Nigeria prospect sees red as Luton Town sink Norwich City

By Olu Dare

Gabriel Osho was sent off as Luton Town secured a slim 2-1 victory over Norwich City in Saturday’s English Championship.

The defender who is eligible to represent Nigeria at senior level was given the marching orders by referee Tim Robinson for a second caution.

Osho’s offense was fouling Dimitris Giannoulis, for what appeared to be a fair challenge on the edge of the Norwich box, after the referee had ignored shouts for a penalty for handball against Andrew Omobamidele.

Even at the numerical disadvantage, the Hatters secured all points at stake with Allan Campbell and Cauley Woodrow getting the goals.

“It was a big game for us, it’s the first time we were in front of our home supporters, it’s Norwich City, it’s Boxing Day at night,” Rob Edwards told the media.

“We lost the first game so it was important to get off to a good start so there was a lot of emotion that came out at the end, just incredibly proud of the players.

“I thought we were really good, we didn’t get everything right but we’re up against a really good team and to find a way to win with ten men was incredible. I’m really pleased for Cauley and I’m delighted for the group as a whole.”
