Gavi turns his hair pink after Spain’s World Cup triumph as Lamine Yamal reacts
Gavi has fulfilled his promise to dye his hair pink after Spain won the 2026 World Cup, with Barcelona team-mate Lamine Yamal responding to the midfielder’s bold new look with laughing emojis.
Spain claimed the world title for only the second time in their history after beating Argentina 1-0 in the final. The match at New York New Jersey went beyond 90 minutes and was decided after extra time, completing Spain’s success at the tournament staged in America, Canada and Mexico.
Before the final, Gavi had promised to change his hairstyle and colour his hair pink if Spain lifted the trophy. Following the victory, the Barcelona midfielder went ahead with the plan and visited a hairdresser to begin the transformation.
Gavi shared the result with his followers on Instagram, posting two photographs showing his new appearance. The images revealed his hair in a light pink shade, marking a striking change from his previous style.
“A man who keeps his word,” Gavi wrote in the caption accompanying the photographs.
The player’s hairdresser also published details of the process used to create the new look. Gavi did not hesitate to have his head shaved before his hair was lightened and then dyed pink.
Yamal was quick to react to the post, leaving a series of face-with-tears-of-joy emojis. His response highlighted the playful reaction to Gavi’s World Cup celebration and the dramatic change in the Barcelona midfielder’s appearance.
Gavi now has a few days of holiday remaining before he returns to club duty. The Andalusian midfielder is scheduled to join Barcelona’s training camp on 12 August, alongside his Spain team-mates, as preparations begin for the new season.
He will report for pre-season directly after representing Spain at the World Cup, arriving at Barcelona with a new and eye-catching hairstyle. The midfielder will hope to carry the form he showed with the national team into the forthcoming campaign and continue making an impact for Barca.
Spain’s victory over Argentina secured the country’s second World Cup title. Their success came after a marathon final that required extra time, while Gavi’s promise, made before the decisive match, has now been publicly honoured with his pink hair.
The midfielder’s Instagram post provided the first look at the finished style, while the accompanying reaction from Yamal added a light-hearted moment to Spain’s celebrations. Gavi’s new appearance is expected to be one of the most visible reminders of the team’s triumph when he returns to Barcelona later this month.
