Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Gbenga Elegbeleye has highlighted the gains of livestreaming NPFL games.
The IMC this week struck a deal to enable live streaming of most league matches of the NPFL from mobile devices.
IMC, GTI, and Propel entered into a deal for live streaming of NPFL matches which takes effect from the 2023/2024 season.
“From next season you can livestream NPFL games. With your Android devices, you can watch eight matches per week.” Elegbeleye told Brila FM.
“Fans from more than 100 countries can see what is happening in our local league. It will help coaches and players to watch their performances and make certain corrections. It will also general revenue for the league system.”
NPFL live matches powered by GTI and Propel Sports will start from the 2023/2024 season on a dedicated OTT live platform, available to all mobile devices.
NPFL will be the first African football league to deploy AI technology with human operators in a hybrid live broadcast.
The new development means NPFL for next season will have more games online as the league board livestreamed a game per week during the 2022/2023 regular season.
