Head coach of Shooting Stars, Gbenga Ogunbote has refused to raise the hopes of the fans as he seeks to inspire his team to a fantastic finish in the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League regular season.
The Oluyole Warriors battered Gombe United 3-0 in Ibadan to earn their highest win of the season thanks to strikes from Malomo Taofeek Ayodeji, Udoh Godwin and Douglas Achiv at the Lekan Salami Stadium.
Despite their recent fine form, the former Remo Stars tactician attributed their good showing to progress of the efforts from the technical crew, stressing that the team is focused on improving with every game.
“There is no magic to it other than hard work, aside from that the players are getting used to each other and we noticed some grey areas which we tried to make amends to,” Ogunbote told CompleteSports.
“The players knew the importance of the game, we have four matches to go, no matter what happens, we want to finish on a high note, we need to finish in an appreciable position.
“If you look at the game, we were wasteful a little bit in the first half, the game would have been wrapped up in the first half, but be that as it may, it was a game of minds, the players wanted to win and thank God we were able to create chances and we were able to get three of those chance.”
3SC ranked fifth on the NPFL group A table with 21 points from 15 games and the Oluyole Warriors will next face struggling Nasarawa United on the 29th of April at the New Jos Stadium, Jos.
