George Ilenikhena scores again as Al-Ittihad extend unbeaten run in Saudi Pro League
George Ilenikhena continued his outstanding start to life at Al-Ittihad by scoring in their 2-0 Saudi Pro League victory over Al-Diriyah on Friday.
The 20-year-old Nigeria striker opened the scoring in the 30th minute, before Georginio Wijnaldum converted a penalty 13 minutes from time to confirm all three points for Al-Ittihad.
Ilenikhena has now either scored or provided an assist in each of his past five league appearances. His sequence began with two goals against Al-Nassr, followed by a strike against Al-Fayha, two assists in the meeting with Al-Faisaly, and a goal and an assist against Al-Ettifaq.
His latest goal further underlined the impact he has made since moving to the Saudi club from AS Monaco in the winter transfer market. The forward has quickly established himself as an important attacking option for Al-Ittihad.
The win keeps Al-Ittihad fourth in the provisional Saudi Pro League standings, with 23 points from 10 matches.
Ilenikhena has also made an encouraging start to his international career with the Super Eagles. He marked his debut for Nigeria by scoring in a 2-1 victory over Madagascar on September 25.
