George Saleh: Nigerian midfielder joins Unirea Alba Iulia on loan from Viitorul Cluj

Nigerian midfielder George Saleh has joined Romanian side Unirea Alba Iulia on loan from Viitorul Cluj. The 20-year-old central midfielder moves for the 2026-27 campaign, adding depth in the middle of the park for the Alba Iulia club.

Saleh, born on 3 April 2006, heads to Unirea after spending last season with Viitorul Cluj, who brought him in from Ikon Allah FA in November 2025. His switch marks the next step in a rapid rise through senior football, moving from a Nigerian academy set-up into the Romanian game and now into a fresh environment to gain further experience.

The loan agreement sees Saleh registered with Unirea Alba Iulia from 15 July 2026, with the deal scheduled to run until the end of June 2027, when he is due to return to Viitorul Cluj. Operating primarily as a central midfielder, he will compete for a place in the heart of Unirea’s side as they reshape their squad for the new season.

Saleh’s move underlines Viitorul Cluj’s willingness to send the player out for regular minutes, while Unirea Alba Iulia secure a young, senior-level option for their midfield on a temporary basis. The Nigerian becomes the latest player to make the pathway from Viitorul Cluj to Unirea Alba Iulia on a season-long arrangement.

Saleh is now officially registered as a Unirea Alba Iulia player on a loan transfer from Viitorul Cluj for the 2026-27 season.
