Gernot Rohr Initiates Strategic Talks with Clubs Over Super Eagles Stars’ Limited Playtime Ahead of World Cup

In a proactive move driven by concerns over the limited game time for key Super Eagles players in the run-up to the World Cup, Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr is slated to engage in crucial discussions with various club coaches. His primary focus will be on players such as Kelechi Iheanacho and Ahmed Musa, who have been facing notable spells on the bench at their respective clubs. The initial meeting is set to take place with Leicester City manager Claude Puel, marking the commencement of Rohr’s outreach to address this pertinent issue.
An authoritative source within the Nigeria Football Federation’s secretariat in Abuja has disclosed to Completesportsnigeria.com that Rohr is not only concerned about the inactivity of these players but is also keen on fostering a collaborative approach to optimize their performance both at the club and international levels. The source further revealed that Rohr plans to extend these discussions to other European countries, including Turkey, Belgium, and Germany, where Nigerian players are actively participating.
“Rohr is particularly worried about Iheanacho’s lack of action leading up to the World Cup. Musa, currently playing for Leicester’s U-23s, may explore a loan move to another club in January, given his limited opportunities. Notably, Wilfred Ndidi remains a regular feature in Leicester’s lineup,” affirmed the insider.
Additionally, Rohr is anticipated to visit Carl Ikeme to inquire about his health situation and conduct meetings with other key players such as Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi, and Ola Aina at their respective clubs, as part of an all-encompassing effort to ensure the optimal readiness of the Super Eagles contingent for the impending global football spectacle.
