Gift Monday: Nigeria forward bags assist as UDG Tenerife edge Villareal

Nigeria forward Monday Gift bagged her second assist of the season for Spanish Liga F side, UDG Tenerife as her side earned a 2-1 win over Villareal on Saturday.
The Nigeria international had been influential in the three consecutive triumphs of Tenerife and was handed her 11th start of the season against the hosts at Ciudad Deportiva del Villarreal.
Sheila Guijarro opened the scoring for Villareal in the second minute of action before Tenerife started its first-half comeback.
Gavira Collado started the comeback with an 11th-minute equalizer and Monday set up Jassina Blom who scored the winning goal to complete the comeback two minutes later.
The assist was Monday’s second in her debut Spanish Liga F season after 14 games and the Nigerian lasted the duration to help her team move up to the seventh position on the league table with 33 points after 24 games.
UDG Tenerife will next face Ngozi Okobi Okeoghene’s Las Planas on April 15 after the international break at the Camp Municipal Les Planes, Sant Joan Despi.
Before then, the Robo Queens product will reunite with her Super Falcons teammates in Turkey for the pre-Women’s World Cup international friendlies against Haiti and New Zealand on April 6 and 11 respectively.
