Gold Geita FC sign Nigerian goalkeeper Kayode Bankole on free transfer
Nigerian goalkeeper Kayode Bankole has completed a move to Tanzanian Premier League club Gold Geita FC on a free transfer.
The 23-year-old has signed a one-year contract with the newly promoted side after ending his association with South African Premier Soccer League club TS Galaxy.
Bankole joined TS Galaxy in 2025, following the expiry of his contract with former Nigeria Premier Football League champions Remo Stars. However, he did not make a competitive appearance for the South African club during his time with the team.
His move to Gold Geita FC gives the goalkeeper an opportunity to restart his career after spending almost a year on the sidelines.
Bankole’s arrival comes as Gold Geita FC prepares to return to Tanzania’s top flight. The club won the NBC Championship last season to secure promotion back to the Tanzanian Premier League.
The transfer was completed after Bankole and TS Galaxy went their separate ways, allowing the goalkeeper to join Gold Geita FC without a transfer fee. He will now be expected to compete for a place in the squad as the club begins its latest campaign in the top division.
Gold Geita FC are not new to continental football. The club represented Tanzania in the CAF Confederation Cup during the 2022/23 campaign, having earned the opportunity to compete outside the country.
For Bankole, the move represents a chance to gain regular competitive football after a difficult spell in South Africa. Despite joining TS Galaxy after his contract at Remo Stars expired, he was unable to feature in a competitive match for the Rockets.
The goalkeeper will therefore hope his switch to Tanzania can provide the playing time needed to rebuild his momentum. His contract with Gold Geita FC runs for one year, giving him a fresh opportunity with a club that has just returned to the Tanzanian Premier League.
Gold Geita FC’s promotion followed their success in the NBC Championship last season, while their previous participation in the CAF Confederation Cup underlines the club’s experience beyond domestic competition.
Bankole’s career has now moved from Nigeria to South Africa and, following the completion of his free transfer, to Tanzania. His immediate focus will be establishing himself at Gold Geita FC after almost 12 months away from competitive action.
