Governor Godwin Obaseki lauds Bendel Insurance’s feat after Federation Cup win

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, yesterday, congratulated Bendel Insurance for winning the 2023 NFF/Tingo Federation Cup.
Bendel Insurance defeated Enugu Rangers 1-0 in the final game of the Federation Cup played in Asaba, Delta State.
It was the Benin Arsenal’s fourth Federation Cup title and their first in 43 years as they are set to embark on continental action with a qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup.
Insurance had an unbeaten run in Group A of the abridged version of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), emerging with 18 matches unbeaten.
However, Bendel Insurance fell off at the Championship Super 6 playoffs, where the Benin Arsenal finished fifth with two defeats and three draws.
Meanwhile, they have now finished the season with silverware and clinched the ticket as Nigeria’s second representative in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
Following this achievement, the governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki couldn’t contain his joy as he took to his official page to appreciate the team.
“What a stellar finish by our boys, Bendel Insurance FC @bendelinsurance – winning the Federation Cup after 43 years!,” Obaseki wrote on social media.
“You have made us immensely proud this season and we are confident that, like our dear state, you are set for an era of national and continental dominance.
“I congratulate the Edo State Sports Commission and all supporters and fans of Bendel Insurance FC. We brought this home!”
