Hamburg line up move for Nigeria striker Terem Moffi as OGC Nice future remains uncertain

Hamburg are considering a move for Nigeria international Terem Moffi, with the six-time German top-flight champions among the clubs linked with the OGC Nice forward.

Moffi is in discussions with several unnamed clubs and is expected to decide on his next destination later this week, according to Allnigeriasoccer.com.

The 27-year-old has been told he is no longer part of OGC Nice’s first-team plans and has been instructed to train separately from the senior squad. He was subsequently left out of the French club’s squad for their latest pre-season friendly against Juventus.

Hamburger Abendblatt, which requires a subscription to access its report, says Hamburg are preparing a move for Moffi. The striker has entered the final year of his contract at OGC Nice, increasing the possibility of a transfer before the end of the current window.

Moffi joined OGC Nice on a permanent basis three years ago after initially arriving on loan. During his time with the club, he has scored 24 goals and provided five assists in 72 appearances across all competitions.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Portuguese giants Porto. His contribution helped Porto secure the Primeira Liga title.

The forward’s possible departure comes after a period in which his long-term future at OGC Nice has become increasingly unclear. His omission from the friendly against Juventus followed the decision to separate him from the first-team group, while interest from Hamburg has now emerged as he approaches the final year of his deal.

Moffi began his European career with Kauno Zalgiris before later playing for Riteriai, Kortrijk and Lorient. He joined OGC Nice in 2023, first on loan, before completing a permanent transfer.

At international level, Moffi has won 23 caps for Nigeria. He is also the captain of the Super Eagles team that won the 2026 Unity Cup.

Hamburg are six-time German top-flight champions and are now assessing whether to make an offer for the Nigeria forward. A decision on Moffi’s next club is expected later this week, with several teams reportedly involved in talks.
