Hamburger SV join race for Nice striker Terem Moffi

Bundesliga club Hamburger SV have joined the growing list of teams interested in signing Nigerian striker Terem Moffi from OGC Nice this summer, with the forward increasingly expected to leave the French side before the transfer window closes.

Moffi returned to OGC Nice after spending the second half of last season on loan with Portuguese champions FC Porto. The 27-year-old is now facing an uncertain future at the Ligue 1 club as Nice prepare to reshape their squad ahead of the new campaign.

Nice president Maurice Cohen has confirmed that Moffi is one of the players the club is prepared to allow to leave. That decision has added to speculation surrounding the striker, who has also been left out of Nice’s first-team squad.

His omission is viewed as a further indication that a departure could take place in the coming weeks, with several clubs monitoring his situation.

Reports indicate that Hamburger SV are considering a move for Moffi as they look to strengthen their attacking options. The German club are understood to value the striker’s experience in French football and his established record in front of goal.

Moffi has also attracted interest from Turkish Super Lig giants Besiktas. The Istanbul club are reportedly exploring a possible deal for the Nigeria international as they seek to reinforce their attack before the start of the new season.

The striker joined OGC Nice permanently from Lorient in 2023, following an initial loan spell. During his time with Les Aiglons, he scored a number of important goals, although his progress was disrupted by injury.

That spell of inconsistency, combined with his current exclusion from the first-team squad, has increased the likelihood of a move away from the Allianz Riviera. Moffi remains highly regarded across Europe and is seeking regular first-team football in an effort to revive his career.

Hamburger SV’s interest gives the forward another potential route away from France, while Besiktas remain among the clubs considering whether to make a formal approach. The Bundesliga side are the latest to emerge as contenders for his signature.
