“He is above our league” — Turkish commentator hypes Victor Osimhen

By Monsurah Olatunji

Turkish football commentator Adnan Aybaba has drawn an intriguing comparison between Victor Osimhen and Mauro Icardi, praising the Nigerian striker’s exceptional abilities.

Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray this summer, has been a revelation for the Turkish club, particularly in the absence of Icardi, who is sidelined due to injury. Aybaba, speaking on a TV program, suggested that the 26-year-old Super Eagles striker is a step above the rest of the players in the Super Lig.

“Osimhen is a very different guy above our league,” Aybaba said. “He always excels in aerial duels, runs, and battles. He also has an athletic build. He has directly contributed to the 9-10 points Galatasaray has earned in the league this season.”

Aybaba continued to make a bold claim about Osimhen’s impact on the team, adding, “Don’t get me wrong, Galatasaray fans, but this guy will make you forget Icardi. Sure, Icardi won hearts and made the kids Galatasaray fans, but there are also realities to this.”

He further emphasized the importance of the age gap between the two forwards: “Osimhen is 26 years old, Icardi is 31 years old, there is a 5-year age difference between them. This is not a small thing. How many more years will Icardi play?”
