Former Arsenal defender William Gallas has advised the Gunners to drop their interest in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, warning that the Nigerian forward could potentially clash with manager Mikel Arteta.
Gallas, speaking to Prime Casino, urged Arsenal to instead focus on signing Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, whom he believes is a better fit for the club’s style and Premier League title ambitions.
“Victor Osimhen is a top-class striker, but I could see him clashing with Mikel Arteta,” Gallas said, alluding to Osimhen’s previous disagreements with managers.
“Viktor Gyökeres would be a better fit, but Arsenal have to win the Premier League next season, which means they need to sign Alexander Isak.”
“Isak is perfect for Arsenal, and they should be going all out to sign him. He would adapt instantly and give them the best chance of winning the title out of any player in the world. They don’t have time to let a striker adapt,” he added.
Osimhen, 26, spent last season on loan at Turkish champions Galatasaray and remains a target for several top European clubs.
However, his high wage demands and Napoli’s valuation continue to pose a challenge for potential suitors. The striker is currently on holiday, with more clarity on his future expected in the coming weeks.
