“I really like Osimhen” – Petit presents solution to Arsenal’s lack of prolific goalscorer

By: Monsurah Olatunji

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has once again urged his old club to sign a prolific striker, naming Victor Osimhen as the perfect solution to their goalscoring issues.

Petit believes that while players like Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus contribute to Arsenal’s attack, the Gunners are in need of a more reliable, consistent goalscorer — someone like Osimhen.

The 25-year-old Nigerian striker was linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium during the summer transfer window, but instead, he joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan.

Since his move to the Turkish Super Lig, Osimhen has been in impressive form, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in just nine league matches.

Petit, who has been impressed by Osimhen’s performances, hopes that Arsenal will reconsider a move for the Super Eagles star as the January transfer window approaches. Speaking to talkSPORT, Petit emphasized the Gunners’ need for a top-tier striker.

“They need a really, really good striker that can score goals because I really like Kai Havertz, and sometimes [Gabriel] Jesus can do the job,” Petit said. “But a typical striker that can score 20, 30 goals per season, this is exactly what Arsenal needs.”

Petit went on to express his admiration for Osimhen, saying, “I really like Osimhen. I think he’s on the radar of Paris Saint-Germain as well. I like Leao from AC Milan. They are different players, but they are performing well at their clubs.”

With the January window nearing, the question remains whether Arsenal will act on Petit’s advice and make a move for the highly sought-after Nigerian striker.
