Former Nigeria International, Ibrahim Babangida has urged the Nigeria U20 side to be at their best if they seek to progress from group D at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Argentina next month.
The Flying Eagles qualified for the U20 FIFA World Cup after coming third at the U20 Africa Cup of Nation earlier this year.
On Wednesday, they were drawn in group D alongside Brazil, Dominican Republic and Italy and Babangida feels Ladan Bosso’s side must improve on their form at the U20 Afcon to enjoy a better outing at the world championship.
“Yes, the Flying Eagles have been placed in what I will tag a group of death,” Babaginda told Complete Sports.
“Playing against teams such as Brazil, Italy and Dominican Republic, the Flying Eagles must ensure they are at their best to beat these teams.
“Selection will be key because the coach must avoid the mistakes he made at the African tournament if Nigeria must progress from this group.”
Over 24 teams will participate in this year’s U20 FIFA World Cup that will commence on the 20 May to June 11.
