Ifeanyi Udeze hails Walid Regragui’s progress from Mikel Arteta’s masterclass

Former Nigeria international Ifeanyi Udeze has hailed coach Walid Regragui of Morocco for learning from Mikel
Arteta of Arsenal.
Morocco manager Walid Regragui attended a tactics seminar hosted by Mikel Arteta last year, where he talked about his ideas in the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
One year on, Regragui find himself in the semi-final of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, where they became the first African nation ever to reach the semifinal of the FIFA World Cup.
The former Wydad Casablanca coach has made the Atlas Lions fearless and hard to beat, keeping at bay Croatia, Belgium, Spain and Portugal on their way to a historic semifinal.
“I’m happy to hear that he even had a zoom session with Mikel Arteta some months ago,” Udeze said on Brila.
“He wanted to understand how Pep works. Of course, Arteta was Guardiola’s assistant. Learning from Arteta was nice to know. He wants to learn, and anyone can learn from anyone,” he added.
The 47-year-old, who only took charge of the Atlas Lions in August, has defied the odds and now gets applauds from tacticians around the globe including Mikel Arteta and Jose Mourinho.
