Igoh Ogbu praises Eric Chelle’s tactical expertise despite draw with Zimbabwe

By Dayo Awoniyi

Slavia Prague defender, Igoh Ogbu, has lauded Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, as a “very sound coach” and a “sound tactician,” despite not featuring in Nigeria’s recent World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

Speaking after Nigeria’s 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe in Uyo, Ogbu shared his admiration for Chelle’s coaching methods, revealing that he had learned valuable lessons during training sessions with the Super Eagles.

“Eric Chelle is a very sound coach. Sound tactician, and I have learnt some new things in the camp of the Super Eagles under him,” Ogbu told reporters.

While acknowledging that the result against Zimbabwe was disappointing, Ogbu expressed confidence in the team’s commitment to securing a win for Nigeria.

“It was not the result we wanted, but you cannot doubt the commitment of the team to give Nigerians the win we all wanted. It is sad, but that is football, and I believe better results will come our way next time.”

Ogbu remains optimistic about Nigeria’s World Cup qualification prospects, noting that with four games remaining, there is still hope.

“I don’t think all hope is lost. Nigeria can still qualify. We have four games left to play. Nobody has power over tomorrow, fortunes can still smile on Nigeria.”

As he prepares to return to his club, Ogbu vowed to continue working hard to improve his game.

“As I go back to my club, I hope to continue to work hard, even harder, and keep improving. You have to keep learning and improving as a player,” he added.
