La Liga side Sevilla have been dealt a pre-season setback following an injury to Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke, who has been ruled out of their friendly clash against Olympique Marseille.
The Spanish club confirmed the news on Saturday via their official X (formerly Twitter) handle, stating that the 26-year-old has sustained a thigh injury.
“Ejuke suffers a thigh injury, ruling him out of tonight’s match against Marseille. Get well soon, Chidi!” the post read.
Ejuke, who joined Sevilla on a free transfer last summer, played a key role in the 2024/25 La Liga campaign, making 25 league appearances with two goals and one assist to his name.
His consistent displays earned him a Player of the Month award in September 2024.
While the club has yet to disclose the severity of the injury, Ejuke’s absence is a concern as Sevilla continue preparations for the upcoming season. Further updates on his recovery timeline are expected in the coming days.
