Italy legend Del Piero extols Victor Osimhen’s quality as best striker in Serie A

Italy legend Alexandro Del Piero has hailed the exceptional qualities of Nigeria and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

The Super Eagles forward has risen in talent and maturity since he joined Napoli in 2022 as he led the line for the Gil Azurri to win their first Serie A title in 33 years and scoring 22 goals in the process.

On Thursday, Osimhen’s strike sealed the title for Napoli with five games to spare after playing 1-1 with Udinese.

And the Juventus legend feels Osimhen’s determination to succeed was key part of his incredible breakthrough.

“What more can be said about Osimhen, this extra-ordinary player, a symbol of the modern striker?”Del Piero said.

“He has managed to improve during the season. He has some particular characteristics that I love, such as courage, determination, the hunger to score and to do well.

“It doesn’t matter whether he misses three chances or scores three goals, because he will start the very next move with the same level of determination.”

Osimhen has scored 27 goals for Napoli this campaign with five of them coming in the UEFA Champions League making him a cult hero among the Partonepei fans.
