Izunna Izuchukwu faces Denmark deportation after losing appeal on immigration case

By Wale Mustapha
It is indeed a bad time for Nigerian midfielder, Izunna Izuchukwu who will be leaving his family and club side, FC Midtjylland after the rejection of his appeal on immigration issues.
Izuchukwu has been living in the Scandinavian country for over 15 years and has played for notable clubs in the region including OB Odense and Midtjylland with over 200 appearances to his name.
He will be deported from the country for giving up his residence permit and CPR number when he moved to Chinese club, MZ Hakka in January, 2018.
Super Eagles midfielder will now be leaving Denmark after losing appeal with the Danish immigration board despite having girlfriend and daughter living in the Scandinavian country.
The Board insisted that Izuchukwu could not get a dispensation despite his strong connection to Denmark because he did not have the same address as his daughter, with the child was only born after he left for China.
Reacting on the unfortunate ruling, the midfielder said “I have my girlfriend and my daughter in Denmark, and I have almost lived in the country for 15 years. I feel really bad and I’m really stressed about it. I can’t do anything!”
“I cannot live in Denmark now, and they are trying to get me out of the country because they have said no to the appeal.
“I don’t think it’s fair, and I’ve been waiting for more than two years. I can’t do anything, and I’ve had offers from other clubs that I’ve had to say no to.”
Uzochukwu argued that he was in Denmark several times during his time with the Chinese club but the visits were classed as holiday visits.
