Japan friendly will boost Super Falcons’ World Cup readiness – Randy Waldrum

Nigeria women’s head coach, Randy Waldrum believes Thursday’s friendly against Japan will boost the readiness of the Super Falcons for the FIFA 2023 Women’s World Cup.
The former African champions will take on the Nadeshiko at the Noevir Stadium and it will mark the fourth meeting between both teams with the Nadeshiko having the upper hand, recording three wins.
In September, the Super Falcons suffered back-to-back defeats at the hands of the United States of America but will be hoping to avoid another slip against the former world champions in Kobe.
“We play these kinds of games against the best in the world, because we know that’s what it’s going to be like at the Women’s World Cup, “Waldrum told a press conference on Wednesday.
“We just got back from the US, playing the USA and now we’ve come here to Japan, to play against one of the world’s best as well”.
19 Super Falcons players have been confirmed to be in Kobe to take on the 2011 world champions, with the quartet of Amanda Mbadi, Ngozi Okobi, Uchenna Kanu and Vivian Ikechukwu the last expected quartet.
Oshoala, who missed most of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in July due to injury, is the major absentee in the Super Falcons squad in Kobe. Also missing are Halimatu Ayinde, Gift Monday and Falconets captain Tosin Demehin.
The match between the two sides preparing for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand will be played at the Noevir Stadium in Kobe.
