Jennifer Echegini scores as PSG claim victory over Saint Etienne

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria’s Jennifer Echegini was on target as Paris Saint-Germain earned an emphatic 4–1 win over Saint-Étienne in the French Première Ligue on Sunday at the Stade Salif Keita.

PSG captain Sakina Karchaoui opened the scoring in the sixth minute, setting the tone for a dominant display. Romee Leuchter doubled the advantage from the penalty spot on the stroke of halftime, moments before the hosts were reduced to 10 players following Alexandria Lamontagne’s dismissal.

Despite playing a woman down, Saint-Étienne pulled one back early in the second half, with Laura Munk Hermann converting a penalty to make it 2–1.

PSG soon regained control. Brazilian forward Isabela restored the two-goal cushion with 10 minutes left, before Echegini sealed the victory in stoppage time, finishing from Elisa De Almeida’s assist.

The Nigerian international played the full 90 minutes, scoring her first league goal of the season and adding to the two assists she has already recorded. Her compatriot, Rasheedat Ajibade, was not included in the matchday squad.

PSG now sit second on the league table with 21 points from eight matches, three behind leaders and reigning champions Lyon. Up next for the Parisians is a league clash against Marseille on December 5, 2025.
