Jide Fatokun has been named Kwara United’s Player of the Month prize following his incredible display in April.
Fatokun who has been deputizing as captain for Dele Aiyenugba and Kabir Balogun as Kwara United captain has also played in all Federations Cup this season with remarkable contributions.
The former Sunshine Stars’ midfielder was presented with the award on Sunday shortly after helping the team beat Nasarawa United by a lone goal to confirm their status in the Nigerian top-flight next season.
The POTM award is sponsored by a football enthusiast, Engineer Olaide Ahmed as part of incentives to motivate the players and elated midfielder expressed delight with the recognition, assuring to do more for the team.
“This means more to me and I’m really happy for this honor, its for all of us in the team and I’m dedicating to my team mates and the management for their supports,” Fatokun told SportsBash.
“We worked together, played together, and must achieve together. As you can see in our game against Nasarawa United, our togetherness gave us the all-important victory, which ensured we escaped relegation.
“Kwarans should expect a better team next season. We didn’t get it right from the beginning of the 2022/2023 NPFL Abridged League, that’s why we are struggling, and I think that is over with the victory over Nasarawa United.”
