John Ogu urges Arsenal to sign Victor Osimhen as transfer talks begin
Former Nigeria midfielder John Ogu has publicly backed Victor Osimhen to join Arsenal, as the Premier League club explores the possibility of signing the Galatasaray striker.
Ogu expressed his support on X amid ongoing transfer links between Arsenal and Galatasaray, writing: “Dear Lord, please let his move to Arsenal come to pass… AMEN.”
The Telegraph has reported that Arsenal have discussed a potential deal for the Nigeria international during exploratory talks with Galatasaray. However, any move remains at an early stage and is connected to separate discussions concerning the valuation of other players.
Osimhen has established himself as one of Galatasaray’s most influential players since joining the Turkish club, producing a prolific run of goals and consistently leading the attack.
The striker reached 50 goals for Galatasaray in only 59 appearances, underlining the impact he has made in a relatively short period. He has also helped the club win consecutive Super Lig titles.
One of his most notable contributions came in a 4-2 victory over Antalyaspor, when he scored twice to help secure the result. His performances have remained strong across both domestic and European competitions, where he has continued to provide Galatasaray with a regular source of goals.
Osimhen has also made a significant impression in continental football. He has scored important goals and contributed assists in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, while also producing memorable displays against high-level opposition.
Those performances have included winning penalties against teams such as Liverpool, further highlighting his influence in major European matches.
Ogu’s message reflects the enthusiasm among Osimhen’s fellow Nigerians regarding the possibility of the striker moving to Arsenal. The former midfielder has not suggested that an agreement has been reached, but his comments come as discussions between Arsenal and Galatasaray continue.
