By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Nigeria forward Josh Maja is optimistic about maintaining his wonderful scoring form for second-tier French Ligue 2 side, Bordeaux following his recent brace in a 2-2 draw with Caen on Tuesday.
Honduras forward, Alberth Elis set up Josh Maja who converted the visitors’ opening goal in the fourth minute.
Maja in the 25th minute doubled his team’s lead from Yoann Barbet’s assist, taking his tally to 10 goals in 18 league games this season for Bordeaux and he is excited about his incredible form this term.
“If we are going to keep this intensity? Yes, we need to continue on this path,” the Nigerian was quoted by Girondins4Ever.
“We started this game well, we scored two goals early in the game, so it’s good, we have to continue. Yes, it’s my fourth goal in the last three games. My fitness? It’s just work.
“Hard work always pays. I continued to work with my teammates and I hope that I will continue like that.”
The 24-year-old former Stoke City forward is getting close to his personal season best, having scored 15 goals in 25 league games for Sunderland in the 2018/2019 season.
In August 2019, former manager Gernot Rohr confirms Maja’s interest to represent Nigeria and went on to make his senior international debut on 10 September in a 2-2 friendly against Ukraine, replacing Victor Osimhen.
