Joy Omewa bags treble as champions Fortuna Hjoring thrash Odense Q

Nigeria forward, Joy Omewa scored three goals in lifting Danish league winners, Fortuna Hjorring to a 6-1 thrashing against Odense Q at the Nature Energy Park, Odense on Saturday.

Anastasia Pobegaylo broke the deadlock for the travelers in the 16th minute before Ajla Habibovic equalised for Odense Q in the 36th minute of play as the first period ended in a 1-1 draw.

Omewa restored her side’s lead with her first goal of the encounter in the 62nd minute. The former Confluence Queens forward extended Fortuna Hjorring’s lead to 3-1 in the 68th minute to put her club in a comfortable position.

She completed her hat trick in the 78th minute, making the scoreline 4-1 before Ashle Riefner and Risako Watanabe completed the rout with two more goals.

Omewa 0layed the duration of the game and received a yellow card in the 35th minute before scoring a treble.

The treble increased the 22-year-old’s goals tally in the league to 22 after 23 games with four assists.

Fortuna Hjorring, which sealed the league title top of the Danish Elitedivisionen Women Championship log with 51 points after 23 games, 12 points ahead of Nordjaelland with a match to end the season.

They will conclude their campaign against Nordsjaelland on June 14, 2025, at the Nord Enegi Arena, Hjorring, when the league title will be presented to the champions.
