Joy Omewa opens goal account as Fortuna Hjorring earn first win of the season

Nigeria forward, Joy Omewa scored her first goal of the season for  Fortuna Hjorring as her team secured a 3-0 win against Thisted FC in a Danish Elitedivisionen women’s encounter on Sunday.

The hosts had lost their league opener 2-0 to Nordsjaelland and needed to return to winning ways which they did at home.

Three goals in the first half was all it wrote for the hosts as they picked their first win of the campaign.

Tiia Peltonen put Fortuna Hjorring ahead in the 21st minute from the penalty spot.

Omewa doubled the lead in the 40th minute from Anastasia Pobegaylo’s assist.

Two minutes later Pobegaylo made it 3-0 to give Fortuna Hjorring a comfortable halftime lead.

Former Confluence Queens forward saw 74 minutes of action before she was replaced by Abby Carchio and the goal was her first in the league this season in the Danish topflight.

After two league games, Fortuna Hjorring occupied the fifth position on the log with three points.
