Technical Adviser of Kwara United, Kabir Dogo has lamented for his side’s Federation Cup quarterfinal defeat to Plateau United on Sunday in Abuja.
Adam Yakubu scored the lone goal of the match that earned the Tin City club the semi final berth against Rangers Int’l when he reached to the end of flick header from Mustapha Ibrahim in last minute of the first half.
Kwara United went close to get a late equalizer through Yahaya Ibrahim but was denied by a brilliant goalkeeping of Suraj Ayeleso.
The defeat has however put an end to Kwara United’s football season which Dogo would still described as mission achieving one.
“Its painful we lost that because its one of our best games of the season, we dominated and were in charge of critical areas, but that’s how its meant to happen,” Dogo told Nigeriafootball.ng.
“Its not bad season for us generally, looking at what we’ve been through in the league and even in the Federation Cup.
“We were able to meet the target making the team remain in the NPFL and also getting to quarterfinal of the cup after many years its also not bad, I agree it would have being lovely to go further and even win the cup.”
Asked what’s next for him and Kwara United, Dogo expressed optimism the team will be better next season, stressing lessons have been learned from the just concluded regular season.
“I want to thank the players, members of technical crew, management, government and supporters club with the media for standing by the team this season,” he continued.
“We’ve all learned one or two lessons and I hope next season will be much better.”
Kwara United finished eighth on the Group B log haven survived relegation on the final day and will campaign for the top flight next season.
