Bayer Leverkusen manager Kasper Hjulmand is optimistic that Nigerian forward Nathan Tella will be available for Saturday’s Bundesliga clash against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Tella, who suffered a knee knock in last Friday’s game against Eintracht Frankfurt, missed Leverkusen’s UEFA Champions League fixture away to FC Copenhagen. His absence from recent training sessions had raised doubts over his fitness for the weekend.
Hjulmand, however, insists the injury is not serious and is hopeful the winger will recover in time.
“We’ll have to see what happens but there is hope. We’ll see after today and tomorrow’s training if he’s ready. But we’re positive,” the coach said in his press conference.
The 25-year-old is expected to resume full training with the squad tomorrow, after which his availability for the Gladbach encounter will be determined by the medical team and coaching staff.
