Katsina United provides clarity on Bala Abubakar’s departure

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Katsina United, has shed light on the departure of their former coach, Bala Abubakar, who resigned from his position ahead of their Matchday 25 fixture against Sunshine Stars.

In a letter addressed to the Club Media Officer, signed by the Club Interim Chairman, Alh Kabir Dan’lami Rimi, Katsina United extended their best wishes to Coach Bala Abubakar for his future endeavors following his decision to step down as the Club’s Technical Advisor (TA).

The letter acknowledges Coach Abubakar’s dedication and commitment to the team during his tenure, despite its brevity. However, it also addresses the issue raised by the departing TA regarding outstanding payments owed to him by the club.

According to the chairman, the delay in settling Coach Abubakar’s four-month pay was due to the club’s inability to include him in the state government payroll. Despite ongoing efforts by the interim management committee to rectify this situation, Coach Abubakar chose to resign before a resolution could be reached.

In an effort to ameliorate the situation, the Club Interim Chairman offered Coach Abubakar three times the amount of his compensation to encourage him to reconsider his decision and remain with the squad.

The statement also addresses concerns raised by Coach Abubakar regarding the team’s environment and welfare, emphasizing the management’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all staff, particularly during matches.

In conclusion, Alh Kabir Dan’lami Rimi reaffirmed the club’s dedication to upholding its positive image and pledged to continue working towards its success.

“Regarding the lack of a conducive atmosphere in the team, Coach Bala Abubakar is well aware of the management’s concern for his protection and welfare, particularly during home and away matches<‘

Finally, the Club Interim Chairman, Alh Kabir Dan’lami Rimi, reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the Club’s positive image by ensuring its success.”

Despite the departure of Coach Abubakar, Katsina United remains focused on their objectives, currently occupying the eighth position on the league table with 35 points from 25 games.
