Kwara United coach Kabiru Dogo has set high expectations for the club as they gear up for the 2024/2025 season of the Nigeria Premier Football League.
The Afonja Warriors finished 13th in the last NPFL season, with 51 points from 38 games and Dogo believes the Harmony Boys are well-equipped to not only succeed domestically but also to compete on the continental stage in the CAF Champions League.
He is confident in the quality of his squad and has outlined the club’s primary objectivesa winning the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title and bringing continental football back to the North Central State.
“Kwara United has what it takes to feature in next season’s CAF Champions League. We have a lot of quality players in the squad capable of making a difference on the African continent,” Dogo told the press.
Reflecting on the previous season, Dogo noted the team’s performance and the narrow margin that kept them from the top spot, while praising the club’s management for their efforts in retaining key players and providing him with the freedom to manage the team effectively.
“If you look at the statistics from last season, the difference between the winners (Rangers) is the number of draws we had, which I was not happy with,” he continued.
“The main objective is to win the title next season and put smiles on the faces of the people of Kwara State.
“The management of Kwara United FC is doing everything possible to retain some quality players who can make a huge difference in the squad, and I must thank them for giving free hands to manage the team.”
