Kwara United GM Bashir Badawiy handed two-year ban from Lagos Stadiums

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

The Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) has imposed a two-year suspension on Kwara United General Manager, Bashir Badawiy, barring him from all stadiums and football-related activities within Lagos State.

The sanction follows an incident during the President Federation Cup final between Kwara United and Abakaliki FC, where Badawiy reportedly breached security protocol by attempting to celebrate in front of five state governors seated in the VVIP section of the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

According to LSFA, the action was deemed a serious security violation and an act of misconduct during a high-profile national competition.

In a statement, the association said: “We cannot have individuals compromising the integrity of our competitions and threatening our officials. The LSFA takes this matter seriously and will not tolerate unethical behavior at its events.”

The suspension, effective immediately, also bars Badawiy from participating in any LSFA-organized events or activities until mid-2027.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is expected to further review the incident and could impose additional sanctions on the official or the club, depending on the outcome of its disciplinary process.

Kwara United recently clinched the Federation Cup title, securing a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup for the 2025/26 season.
