Kwara United goalkeeper Dele Aiyenugba exonerates management from poor start

Kwara United goalkeeper Dele Aiyenugba has jumped to the defence of his coaches and management as he refuses to blame them for the team’s bad start to the 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
The Harmony Boys made a slow start to life in the 2022/2023 NPFL season, having drew two and lost the other two games of the opening matches of the season with the coach given a two-match ultimatum to salvage the situation.
The Ilorin-based side picked its first win of the season with a 2-1 win over Akwa United at its adopted home ground in Ibadan last Wednesday and the two-time CAF Champions League winner with Enyimba is backing his side to rise to the occasion and change the tides of the team’s early dwindling fortunes in the league.
“It’s left for the players and not the management because the management are doing their job. It’s up to we players to take up everything and give it back to the Kwarans,” Aiyenugba told Brila FM.
“The management are not at fault for our performance but the players. We have to fix everything before it’s too late. Thank God we won our first game of the season. By God’s grace, we will come back on our feet.”
Kwara United will hope to continue a good vein of form when it visits Plateau United next Sunday.
Last season, the club finished in the third position and qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup alongside Remo Stars. Both teams had since crashed out of the second-tier continental showpiece.
