Kwara United, Rivers United return from Morocco after continental engagements

Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) teams, Kwara United and Rivers United have landed in Nigeria after last weekend’s continental engagements.
Kwara United arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos early Tuesday morning around 6:30 am after its ouster from CAF Confederation Cup.
The team left Berkane for Casablanca on Monday before boarding Air Maroc and Qatar Airline respectively.
After a 3-1 first-leg advantage in the Preliminary Round of the CAF Confederation Cup over holders, RS Berkane, Kwara United suffered a 2-0 loss away in Berkane and crashed out of the competition on an away goal after a 3-3 aggregate scoreline.
Meanwhile, Rivers United returned to the shores of Nigeria after honoring their TotalEnergies CAF Champions League second preliminary second-leg match against Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco on Sunday.
The “Pride of Rivers touched down at the Murtala Mohamed International Airport Lagos at 4:05 am Nigerian time on Tuesday.
Rivers United were unable to pick the group stage qualification ticket as they bowed out of the competition via a 7-2 aggregate score to Wydad AC and will now compete in the CAF Confederation’s Cup.
The Port Harcourt-based side will face El Nasr of Libya in the final Preliminary Round of the CAF Confederation Cup with the first leg in Port Harcourt on November 2 before the team travels to Libya for the return leg on November 9.
Another Nigerian side, Plateau United will play another Libyan side in Al Akhdar in the CAF Confederation Cup after dropping from the Champions League with defeat to Esperance Tunis of Tunisia on away goal rule.
