Leeds United registers interest in Kelechi Iheanacho

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

English Championship side Leeds United has registered an interest in Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho, with Sevilla willing to sanction a loan exit, as per Football Insider.

Leeds United are widely expected to have a quiet transfer window despite calls from the team faithful to strengthen.

There are concerns that the Whites risk resting on their laurels in the push for promotion.

After coming up short in the top-two fight last season before play-off final heartbreak, all at Elland Road are determined to avoid the same outcome in the 2024/25 campaign.

The expected lack of business in Yorkshire hasn’t stopped speculation over potential targets though, and a fresh link has now emerged from Football Insider.

They claim that Leeds United have registered their interest in a potential deal for Iheanacho, who now plays in Spain with Sevilla.

The Nigerian striker has struggled to make an impact and could make a swift return to England with the La Liga side willing to let him move on on loan in the winter window.

There is competition from other English clubs and teams overseas, but Leeds have made contact over the possibility of bringing the 28-year-old to Elland Road, it is said.

The former Manchester City player has failed to register any goal or assists in the Spanish La Liga despite nine appearances with Sevilla.

He scored five goals with an assist for Leicester City after 23 Championship games as the Foxes won the title and sealed promotion to the English Premier League last season.
