Leicester City Soars: Iheanacho’s Brace, Ndidi’s Strike Propel Foxes to FA Cup Fifth Round

Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho showcased his scoring prowess with a brace, complemented by compatriot Wilfred Ndidi’s contribution, as Leicester City secured a resounding 5-1 victory over English third-tier side Peterborough in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday.

Fousseni Diabate, making his debut for Leicester, played a crucial role in the commanding win by scoring a brace. Diabate opened the scoring in the ninth minute, setting the tone for Leicester City’s dominance. Iheanacho doubled the lead in the 12th minute with a skillful shot from distance, demonstrating his precision in front of goal. The Super Eagles star added another goal in the 29th minute, concluding a superb cross to give his team a 3-0 advantage at halftime.

Despite a goal from hosts Peterborough’s Andrew Hughes in the 58th minute, Leicester City maintained control. Manager Claude Puel strategically introduced Wilfred Ndidi for Harvey Barnes in the 64th minute, solidifying the Foxes’ midfield. Iheanacho, having made significant contributions, was substituted with 10 minutes remaining, making way for Ben Chilwell.

With Peterborough seeking a second goal, Diabate secured his second of the game, further solidifying Leicester’s position. In the 90th minute, Ndidi capped off the exceptional performance with Leicester’s fifth goal, adding gloss to the scoreline.

The triumph advances Leicester City to the FA Cup fifth round, emphasizing their prowess in the competition. The cohesive display from Iheanacho, Ndidi, and Diabate highlights the team’s depth and potential for success in both domestic and international competitions.
