Leonard Ngenge delighted with debut goal in Remo Stars’ CAF Champions League win

Remo Stars forward Leonard Ngenge expressed his excitement after scoring on his debut as the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions recorded a commanding 4-0 first-leg victory over US Zilimadjou in the CAF Champions League preliminary round on Sunday.
“First of all I thank God for this,” Ngenge said after the match.
“I am excited scoring in my first game. The coach and teammates encouraged me.”
The young attacker admitted he felt some pressure going into the tie, especially following his experiences at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) and stepping into a key role vacated by Remo’s former captain, Nduka Junior.
“It felt a bit under pressure due to what happened at CHAN 2024. Champions of NPFL last season and playing in the position of the former captain and a top player, I feel a bit under pressure. I will handle it. CHAN experience helped me,” he added.
The second leg will be played at MKO Abiola Sports Centre, Abeokuta on Friday, with Remo Stars carrying a strong advantage.
